Workshop on Colour Science and Colorimetry (GSB-005-EN)

The fascinating world of colours, which we all encounter every day, is what makes our world so colourful! But what exactly is colour, and why do we see it? Does everyone see the same thing, and if not, why not? How can we ensure that the same shade from two different manufacturers looks identical, or that two different batches from the same manufacturer look the same? What influence does the processing – from storage, through application, to curing – have on the colour of a paint?

All these phenomena can be described using standardised measurement systems and methods, which are collectively referred to in the industry as colour science and colourimetry. But what exactly does that mean? – In our practical workshop, our speaker will get to the bottom of these questions and the physical laws on which they are based, and will impart basic knowledge of the physical principles, the measurement systems and methods, as well as the individual colour spaces.

You will learn to measure colours precisely, to classify and analyse measurement results, and to apply measurement methods in a targeted manner.

In the concluding discussion session, you can ask questions, share experiences and test the knowledge you have gained.

The course is planned for late summer. Please dont hesitate to sign in already now.

The course will be concluded with a test. The test consists of 10 multiple-choice questions, each with four possible answers, only one of which is correct. The test will be sent by email afterwards and must be returned to the GSB office within 24 hours.

Upon successful completion of the test, you will receive a certificate of participation. Documented participation fulfils the requirements of the GSB quality guidelines AL 631-1 / GSB ST 663-1, Chapter 7.
